GLORY TO DISASTER IN ONE FELL SWOOP
06.05.2012
Predictions of a mid-field finish for Wilson Security Racing should have been fulfilled today but for a late-race incident with Rick Kelly this afternoon.
David Wall was running as high as tenth thanks to some great strategy and strong tyre life when he was ran wide into the sand trap after contact passing the Jack Daniel's Racing car. Race officials are looking into the incident.
It was a bitter blow for Wall, who had made excellent progress after struggling with tyre life in the first race, eventually finishing 25th.
V8s will be back on track at Phillip Island from 18th-20th May.

"After the pit stop I knew the soft tyres had to go a long way so I was trying to look after them to have something left at the end. We were obviously a lot quicker than the Kelly car that we had the incident with. He was blocking aggressively for several laps so it was very unfortunate to end the way it did because I feel we had more pace than him.
"I don't know if he brake-tested me or what but he seemed to stop pretty early and I ran into the back of him. That unsettled him and I tried to go around the outside but he pulled in front of me and I had nowhere to go.
"We deserved to finish in the top 15 today and I can't tell you how disappointed I am. It's just such a shame we didn't get to finish where we deserved.
"The first race was a struggle. We didn't have the car speed we did the day before and definitely not what we had this morning in qualifying balance-wise. For the second race we made a change and it made the car similar to what we had in qualifying."
