D’Alberto Settles In At Opening Test Day

Wilson Security Racing's Tony D'Alberto has spent his first day behind the wheel of his car in preparation for the 2011 V8 Supercar Series.

Joined by all other teams at Sydney's Eastern Creek for the compulsory test session, D'Alberto described the day as a success for WSR.

"It was good to get back into it," said D'Alberto, adding, "Even though it's only been about six weeks out of the car, just to get some race fitness again was good. You can't substitute time spent in the car."

With teams using a mixture of tyres, many of the quicker lap times were set later in the day when teams were allowed to use sprint tyres.

D'Alberto was one such driver, setting the fifth quickest time of the day.

"It's good to be up amongst it, but at the same time you have to keep it all in perspective," said D'Alberto.

"Everyone had to make do with the tyres they had, but there's no doubt we finished the day well and put some good planning into round one at Abu Dhabi in a couple of weeks time."

The Wilson Security #3 Commodore will depart for the Middle East next week, for an opening round that D'Alberto is eager to earn good points from.

"I'm hoping we can improve on last year and earn a few more points at Abu Dhabi. Using the sprint tyres over there will make for an interesting event."

Wilson Security Racing will officially launch its 2011 campaign at Southern Cross Station in the heart of Melbourne on Friday March 4 at 1pm.
